Facebook Launches Whale, A Meme-Making App

Who does not enjoy Nibba-Nibbi memes?

With time, the trend of glorious memes has increased all over the Internet. People are creating, sharing, and enjoying memes day and night.

Seeing this as a great opportunity, Facebook has added a meme-creation application to Zuckerberg empire, called Whale.

This application, designed by NPE team of Facebook, lets users edit their own pictures or the stock images to create hilarious memes. And later, share them on different social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram.

It also gives users an opportunity to create their own image stickers with the help of crop and cut tools. In addition to this, the app also provides freeform drawing tools that makes it easier for users to perform different experiments with any image and show their artistic side.

While it is not the first of its type, the application is expected to get higher recognition among millennials and social media professionals. And the two reasons behind this is that the created images are free to download and the app does not rely upon Subscription or App purchasing – the two popular strategies of earning money from an app.

What’s more, the app is currently available in Canada only, alongside two other experimental apps – Bump and Aux. Here, the former is a social media platform that enables you to connect with strangers on answering a set of ‘ice-breaker’ questions, while the latter is a group listening application that gives you a chance to select songs and compete for the group’s virtual auxiliary cable.

Now, while Facebook’s Whale app is assumed to gain popularity because of its functionality, it is also getting attention because of many related questions and discussions. With the prime one be – What is the prime motive of Facebook behind the advent of such experimental apps?

Though it is not disclosed or approved by any in-house expert, it is believed that such apps are Facebook’s efforts to deliver something unique, interesting. And thus, compete with TikTok and Snapchat – the two that have gained fame in the world like anything ever and made every social media enthusiast and app developer to look ahead to find out the cost to build an app like TikTok or Snapchat.

As already shared, the app is available only in Canada right now. But, is expected to cross borders and be available in different other parts of the globe, after which it would be easier to determine if the app will become a big hit or join the league of apps that are Facebook’s failed attempts to become the ruler of mobile world.
